Honorable Jack W. Marr Judge 24th District Court“The Weight of the Badge”
Judge Jack W. Marr was elected to preside over the 24th Judicial District Court in 2012. The 24th Judicial District encompasses Victoria, Calhoun, Refugio, Goliad, DeWitt, and Jackson counties. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Marr practiced law for over 35 years and was a partner with the firm Marr, Meier & Bradicich, LLP. He is board certified in Family Law (since 1983).
Marr deservedly has received numerous awards during his career that include the Dan R. Price Award for Outstanding Contributions to Family Law, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists Judge Sam Emison Award for Outstanding contributions to Family Law, the Texas Family Law Foundation Allison Unger Award for outstanding leadership during the legislative process, the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Outstanding Jurist, and in 2022, Judge Marr was inducted into the Hall of Legends of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
In service to his field, Marr has presided as the Chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, President of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, and President of the Texas Family Law Foundation. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Judge Marr has directed and served as faculty for numerous CLE courses on family law.
He holds an undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.
